Academic research agreement

Academic research access agreement · Version academic-2026-10-14-v1

These terms govern access supplied by Connective Leadership LLC, operating as the Connective Leadership Institute (CLI), to the named researcher and institution for the project described in the application and approved by CLI. Contact: CLI@connectiveleadership.com.

1. Approved project and institutional responsibility

Use is limited to the approved academic project, named researcher, institution, assigned aggregate table and access period. Give accurate project, funding, conflict-of-interest and institutional review information. Provide the institution's documented IRB/ethics approval, exemption or determination that the project is not human-subjects research, as applicable. A researcher’s assertion alone is not institutional evidence. Obtain an authorized institutional signatory's acceptance and provide that evidence to CLI. Access begins only after CLI verifies the institution, approvals and agreement.

2. Aggregate access only

The portal provides fixed, approved tables of group counts and mean assessment scores. It provides no individual assessment records, names, contact details, direct identifiers or re-identification keys. Individual-level records, including coded or de-identified records, require a separate agreement and are outside this access. PHI and HIPAA limited data sets are excluded. Record the institution's HIPAA determination and supporting basis; do not represent this agreement as a HIPAA authorization, business associate agreement or substitute for institutional approval.

3. Permitted use and confidentiality

Use the assigned material only for the approved study of Achieving Styles, leadership, organizational behavior or assessment properties. Do not identify or contact participants, reconstruct individual records, link the tables to identifiable datasets, circumvent suppressed results, combine releases to infer small groups or share credentials. Do not use results to make individual employment, education, credit, insurance or healthcare decisions. No advertising, data brokerage, general-purpose AI training or unrelated commercial use is permitted. Additional users or materially different projects need CLI's written approval.

4. Security, tools and incidents

Protect your account and downloaded tables with access controls, device security and institution-approved storage. Do not forward restricted material or upload it to public repositories, consumer AI services or unapproved cloud services. Notify CLI@connectiveleadership.com within 24 hours of discovering suspected unauthorized access, disclosure, re-identification or loss. Preserve evidence, stop affected use and cooperate with CLI and your institution's incident response. This does not replace either party's own notification duties.

5. Publication and interpretation

You may publish non-identifying findings within the approved project. Submit proposed tables, figures and disclosures to CLI at least 15 business days before release for a confidentiality and scope review. CLI may request changes to address a specific disclosure, attribution or scope concern, but may not suppress unfavorable findings or require favorable conclusions or authorship. If no specific objection is raised within that period, publication may proceed subject to these continuing terms. Resolve outstanding concerns with the parties' research representatives before releasing the affected material.

Describe assessment versions, rounding, suppression, sample limitations and methods accurately; distinguish association from causation. Acknowledge CLI as the source and disclose funding and conflicts. No CLI endorsement is implied. CLI retains rights in its instruments and source materials; the institution retains its original scholarly analysis subject to these terms. Aggregate research can support commercial CLI products. This agreement does not promise research payments or royalties.

6. Access, retention and termination

The approval record identifies the permitted table and expiry date. CLI may suspend access for an expired approval, breach, privacy concern or inability to establish continued authority. On expiry or termination, stop new use and delete or return restricted material within 30 days, confirming completion. A documented institutional, funder or legal retention obligation must be separately approved by CLI; ordinarily any approved verification archive is limited to seven years after project closure. Restrict archived material to the approved purpose. Backups must expire within 90 days of active deletion, unless a documented legal hold applies. Published non-identifying findings may remain available.

7. CLI responsibilities and participant rights

CLI remains responsible for its authority to prepare and disclose assigned outputs, source restrictions and disclosure review. Institutional approval does not transfer that responsibility. CLI may withhold or withdraw outputs and communicate restrictions that researchers must follow. Each party remains responsible for its own legal obligations. Neither party guarantees that data are error-free or identification risk is zero. These terms do not waive participant rights or release negligence or unlawful conduct.

8. Acceptance and changes

The researcher accepts electronically using their named account. CLI records the agreement version, acceptance date, project, institutional evidence and approval. The institution must separately accept through an authorized representative before access. Changes to the project, institution, approval, team or permitted tools must be reported before the changed use. Material changes to these terms require renewed acceptance. Any access fee, sponsorship arrangement, additional institution-specific terms or separate data sharing must be agreed in writing; none is implied by this application.
